Origins of Our Tea
SAWA has devoted time to developing close relationships with high quality tea farmers in Japan. We import Japanese tea directly from the tea farmers. They are in Uji (Kyoto), Ureshino (Saga), and two of the farms are in Shizuoka, Japan.
SAWA has chosen to work with specific tea farmers because of their devoted policy of producing excellent tea alongside their devotion to keeping the environment healthy. SAWA and these farmers share in the belief that quality of life, the planets' health and high quality of tea are all connected.
The cultivation of tea involves a way of thinking that is rooted in the creativity of artists. The political heart of tea growers is not one of a money-centered lifestyle. I am the founder of SAWA, and I too am an artist. From this perspective I have come to greatly admire the integrity and creativity of the tea farmers as being an artist's way. This holds my greatest respect. Even to look at the word "agriculture", it holds 'culture' within it, and so shows the true meaning of culture - to grow and flourish. We at SAWA believe that agriculture based in awareness is the real art for today, for the environment and for people to 'grow and flourish'.
Why drink tea? Tea is rich with experience. Tea cleanses your body, benefits your health, and simply is delicious! So please sit and enjoy tea, create a space to contemplate and nourish your life.
Please note - these products do not have international organic farming certification, but are recognized within Japanese regulations. Sawa's relationship with these farmers has built a trust in the practices, integrity and values of these devoted tea farmers.
